Overdrive is the new album due from Marc Amacher on 7th August through Hoboville Records, with ‘Streets Are Golden’ out now as the first lead single from it.
Recorded in an air raid shelter, ‘Streets Are Golden’ thrives on slide guitar, groove and a genuine performance. The lyrics speak to anyone who has hit rock bottom but keeps going nonetheless. The accompanying lyric video includes visuals (a mix of street signs, collage and hazard symbols) that reflect exactly that: not retro, but modern, unpolished rock with attitude.
Featuring eleven tracks ranging from earthy blues to modern rock, Overdrive is underpinned by an uncompromising attitude, like an amplifier on the verge of distortion. Recorded raw, driven by genuine performance and raw energy.
Tracks featured are: ‘Hell Yeah’, ‘Streets Are Golden’, ‘Crying’, ‘Fool’, ‘Dark Knight’, ‘Rolling And Tumble’, ‘Shake It’, ‘Can’t Beat Time’, ‘Dirt House Blues’, ‘Cash Smash Boogie’ and ‘Well’.
From the opener ‘Hell Yeah (Here I Am)’ to the finale ‘Ain’t The Man’, the album follows a clear thread: no excuses, no masks; movement as a response, not an escape. ‘Streets Are Golden’ speaks to all those who have fallen but keep going nonetheless, whilst ‘Cash Smash Boogie’ dismantles the myth of money with irony and groove. ‘You Can’t Beat Time’ is a duet where two voices are in tension, not romance. The realisation remains: time doesn’t play fair. It wins.
Swiss blues musician Marc Amacher has been on the road for over two decades. He became known to a wider audience through The Voice of Germany reality TV show, where he reached the final. Since then, he has shared the stage with musicians such as Eric Clapton, Billy F. Gibbons (ZZ Top), Rie Williams and The BossHoss.
Load reached number 1 in the Swiss album charts, and Overdrive is being promoted with a roadshow across Switzerland.
Musicians featured on the new album are: Res Lüdi (drums), Alex Germann (guitar), Katarina Michel (vocals), with Andreas Hayoz, Omar Cuma and Schnäg Manuel each playing bass across assorted tracks.
