Joe Stump’s Tower Of Babel‘s mysterious and hazy groover ‘Alone In The Desert’ casts a spell of vintage sounds with ultra-fresh and vibrant sensibilities. Taken from their album Days Of Thunder, it’s their latest single.
“‘Alone In The Desert’ is composed and crafted in the true spirit of the iconic Dio-era Rainbow masterpieces ‘Stargazer’ and ‘Gates Of Babylon’,” commented Joe Stump himself, explaining: “I wanted to create something epic and grandiose with that Ritchie Blackmore snake charmer induced Eastern flavor.
“I also wanted the listener to feel transported back in a time machine and feel what it was like to be watching early Rainbow live at the Hammersmith Odeon in London or The Beacon Theater in New York. A period where track times and solo lengths weren’t so heavily monitored and music fans actually listened to entire albums.”
A shred specialist and associate professor at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, Stump is lead guitarist with Alcatrazz as well as leading Joe Stump’s Tower Of Babel.
Days Of Thunder is out on CD and digital formats via Silver Lining Music. You can read more about the band and their new album at RAMzine.
