With an incredible four-octave vocal range, Myles Kennedy has to be heard to be believed, and that is exactly what his rock band, Alter Bridge, are giving us the chance to do.
Following on from their popular show at the Royal Albert Hall featuring Parallax Orchestra, they have released a live music video for their song ‘Words Darker Than Their Wings.’ It seems like a normal fixture in their setlist, highlighting Kennedy’s intense vocals, and Mark Tremonti’s catchy riffs, with lyrics that are probably darker than anyone’s wings, however, Royal Albert Hall was the first time they performed the song. It is also the first time that Kennedy has shared his vocal duties with lead guitarist, Tremonti, and he shows that guitar is not the only instrument he can use.
Explaining the concert, Tremonti said, “’Words Darker Than Their Wings’ was a song that we never played before ever and it’s been one of our favourites, especially me and Scott Phillips. That’s been one of our top 3 Alter Bridge songs since we wrote it and it’s just one of those songs that we have been trying and trying and trying to play live and Myles is always kind of pushing back about it and finally, you know with this orchestra he said this is the perfect time to do it. We did and it was the biggest reaction of both nights.”
As if a new music video wasn’t enough, Alter Bridge are releasing the entire Royal Albert Hall concert on a live record due for release on September 7th. It was recorded in October 2017 when the band played two sold out shows at the venue backed by the immense 52 piece Parallax Orchestra led by conductor Simon Dobson.
