Baptized In Blood with the Lion’s Share

Their Inferno album out now on Metalville Records, Swedish heavy metal veterans Lion’s Share return by pouring out their latest single ‘Baptized In Blood’.

Rooted deeply in the sounds of Black Sabbath and solo Ozzy Osbourne circa 1981, with lyrics that explore the disturbed dreams of a troubled mind obsessed with evil, demons, and a final confrontation between Satan and God.

Formed in Sundsvall, Sweden in 1987, Lion’s Share established themselves as a force within European heavy metal. Since 2017, Lars Chriss (guitars) and Nils Patrik Johansson (vocals) have led the various studio and stage musicians who’ve joined them, and are co-writers of the songs featured on Inferno.

Available on Metalville Records, tracks featured on Inferno are ‘Pentagram’, ‘We Are What We Are’, ‘We Will Rock’, ‘The Lion’s Trial’, ‘Baptized In Blood’, ‘Live Forever’, ‘Chain Child’, ‘Another Desire’ and ‘Run For Your Life’.

Opening track ‘Pentagram’ was the band’s previous single, and Johansson explained the inspiration behind the lyrics: “The song was inspired by a colleague of mine. A quirky guy in his 60s, a huge fan of heavy metal and black metal. At some point he decided he was a Satanist. Since he didn’t want to keep his Christian first name, he simply flipped the letters around and officially registered a new one. I found the whole thing both dark and hilarious, and wrote a lyric about it. Needless to say, he was incredibly proud when he found out there was a song dedicated to him.”

Chriss added: “‘Pentagram’ was a given choice as the opening track on Inferno. It immediately defines the atmosphere of the album. Dark, heavy, and straight to the point. It sets the listener’s mindset from the very first second.”

The accompanying black-and-white band performance video was filmed in November 2025 and directed by Tom Wouda.

‘Another Desire’ came before that as a single, with Johansson commenting: “The lyrics of ‘Another Desire’ deal with gangs, brotherhood, money, and the destructive pull of addiction. It’s about loyalty, power, and how easily you can become a slave to drugs and desires you think you control, until they control you.”

“This song represents exactly where we are today,” Chriss noted. “Heavy, sharp, and straight to the point. After all these years, it felt important to come back with something that hits hard, both musically and lyrically.”
