Editors Return With New Single ‘Call It In’

It’s been a long three and a half years, but Editors are back just in time to land on your summer travel playlists with new single ‘Call It In’, out now via Play It Again Sam. Good vibes, happy music, and a great groove!

The track marks the band’s first new music since 2022’s EBM and emerges from studio sessions held between frontman Tom Smith’s debut solo record There Is Nothing In The Dark That Isn’t There In The Light and the band’s ongoing live commitments. Evolution has always been at the heart of one of the UK’s most cherished alternative bands, and ‘Call It In’ hints at where their next chapter might be heading.

Smith on the song: “We spent a lot of summer ’25 holed up in rural Gloucestershire, working on songs with all of us in a room, in a more traditional band set up. ‘Call It In’ is one of the newest songs we worked on, it’s a song about asking for help, really, in the presence of an existential dread, finding solace and comfort in someone close, escaping the deafening noise of modern life.”

The accompanying video, directed by guitarist Justin Lockey, captures that introspective mood with a visual style as considered as the music itself.

Formed in 2002 after meeting at university in Birmingham, Editors have released seven studio albums, all of which reached the UK top 10. Their 2005 debut The Back Room earned a Mercury Prize nomination, while 2007’s An End Has A Start topped the UK album charts and picked up a Brit Award nomination. In This Light And On This Evening also hit number one in 2009. Two decades on, Editors remain one of the UK’s most respected alternative acts, equally at home on home soil and across the world.

Stick this one on the playlist for the long drive, the festival train, or the airport queue — it earns its place.
