South Wales pop punk powerhouse Fortune Teller have dropped stellar new single ‘Lucid State’, bringing together haunting hooks, gritty guitars, emotive lyrics and soaring vocals.
The single is emo heartfelt goodness, cutting deep into your emo heart and bringing you right back to the 90s. Get your CD Walkmans out because you’re going to need to sing along to this one on your own. The song really does capture a feeling of being in a magical space. If you know, you know. You need to listen to understand what we’re going on about.
The five-piece are a fast-rising name on the UK pop punk circuit, drawing comparisons to Knuckle Puck, Neck Deep and The Story So Far with a cheeky nod to genre-defining acts like Blink-182 and Good Charlotte. ‘Lucid State’ follows the release of their critically acclaimed debut EP Premonitions.
The band said: “Lucid State marks a shift for us both sonically and thematically. While still rooted in our pop-punk foundations, we leaned into softer elements and more vulnerable moments to explore something deeper than we have before. It follows Mason’s journey of unexpectedly finding a real connection after a period of self healing, capturing the feeling of stepping into something new that feels almost dreamlike, and not wanting to let it go.”
An official visualiser for ‘Lucid State’ is available now. Catch Fortune Teller live at Spring Breakdown at the Wheatsheaf Banbury on May 2, New Rock City Festival at Fuel Bar Cardiff on July 11 and GR Outdoor Music Festival at Green Rooms Treforest on August 2.
