The All-American Rejects have shared ‘King Kong’, the latest single from their upcoming album Sandbox, due May 15 via Epitaph Records.
The video features Kong skipping around town getting up to all sorts, and honestly it’s a vibe. ‘King Kong’ is a nice summer track that’s going to sound enormous when the band bring it to Download Festival in June. And those lyrics? So true. We all know someone like that, right?
It’s their first album in 14 years, and on the evidence of the singles so far, the wait has been worth it. Their upcoming UK summer shows have all sold out, and the band also announced last month that they’ll be resurrecting their wildly popular House Party Tour, building on the viral success and fan-driven energy of the first run with even more intimate, chaotic outings than ever before.
The All-American Rejects are one of those bands that defined a generation. From ‘Dirty Little Secret’ to ‘Gives You Hell’ to ‘Move Along’, their catalogue is packed with songs that an entire generation grew up screaming in their bedrooms. The fact that they’re back with new music and it doesn’t feel like a nostalgia cash-in is something worth celebrating.
A lyric video for ‘King Kong’ is available now.
