Frontiers Continue 30th Anniversary Celebrations

Frontiers Music Srl has continued to release singles from its XXX Anniversary Compilation album, offering new interpretations of classic melodic rock tracks from its back catalogue.

The most recent sees Grand vocalist Mattias Olofsson singing ‘When The Heartache Has Gone’, the Revolution Saints track released by the supergroup in 2019.

“I was truly honoured when I was asked to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of Frontiers. I’ve always been a big fan of Deen Castronovo’s voice, so I was especially excited to take on a song by Revolution Saints. I hope you all enjoy it,” said Olofsson.

As they did for much of the album, Alessandro Mammola played guitar, Andrea Arcangeli bass, Alessio Lucatti keyboards and Alfonso Mocerino drums, and the same lineup backed the previous single, ‘Weight Of The World’, which had been a hit for Harem Scarem.

Venus 5‘s Karmen Klinc sang on this one, and she commented: “I love songs that combine emotions and power. ‘Weight Of The World’ is definitely one of them. I’m really grateful to Frontiers Records for inviting me to be part of this special anniversary release and for giving me the chance to put my own spin on such a great track.”

Nordic Union, the group formed by Pretty Maids‘ Ronnie Atkins and Erik Martensson of Eclipse and W.E.T., have had their ‘Hypocrisy’ recorded by the same lineup with Stina Girs, singer with Finnish metal band Unén.

“I found ‘Hypocrisy’ during a painful breakup six years ago, and it became my power song, the thing that got me through,” said Girs. “Covering it now feels personal. It’s a reminder that I survived, and came out stronger.”

Taking over as guitarist on a cover of ‘Edge Of Tomorrow’, originally released by supergroup Sunstorm back in 2016, was Aldo Lonobile, with Ronnie Romero stepping up to the microphone. Romero said: “What a joy and an honour to have recorded this song!

“It’s one of my favourites from the Sunstorm catalogue, and I truly enjoyed it even before being part of the band. Furthermore, it’s a huge privilege that this song is part of the 30th anniversary celebration of Frontiers Records. Thank you for this incredible opportunity!”

A powerful rendition of the Journey classic ‘Separate Ways’ saw Chilean vocalist James Robledo of Robledo and Sinner’s Blood belting it out.

“I’m truly honoured and excited to pay tribute to one of the most iconic bands in the global music scene. Journey is, without a doubt, a staple in the heart of every rock fan. I’d also like to extend my gratitude to Frontiers for including me in such a distinguished lineup,” said the singer. “Special thanks to Serafino, Mario, Aldo, and my team, Franco Gabelo and Claudio Poblete, for making everything come together flawlessly.”

This one had Lonobile back on guitar, but Cristian Timpanaro on bass, Antonio Agate on keyboards and Fortunato Grillo on drums.

Arcangeli, Lucatti, Mocerino and Mammola, along with backing vocalist Serena Torti, supported Australian rocker Cassidy Paris on a rendition of W.E.T.’s hit ‘Watch The Fire’.

“It was an absolute honour to cover this awesome track. I’m a big fan of W.E.T. and this was a great privilege to be a part of the Frontiers 30th anniversary release,” said Paris.

That’s a lot of singers honoured to appear on these tracks, so check out the videos to see if you think they’ve done them justice, and if you like what you hear, XXX Anniversary Compilation is available now.
