Shock rock legends GWAR have joined forces with horror host Joe Bob Briggs for GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein, a new album out on vinyl on 13 November via Pit Records.
The record celebrates more than four decades of GWAR and 40 years of Joe Bob Briggs on television as a film critic, commentator and entertainer. Side A captures GWAR‘s live set from The Last Drive-In’s 2025 Halloween special, mixing originals with covers of songs associated with the show. Side B features the show’s house band, John Brennan and the Bigfeet, performing songs written for its final two seasons.
To mark the announcement, GWAR have released new single ‘Splatter-Fu’, written for them by John Brennan, along with an official video.
Blothar said: “Lordy Lordy, look who’s 40! GWAR and Joe Bob Briggs. A match made in hell! I love horror movies, trash, and funny spooky stuff. GWAR wouldn’t exist without it.”
Joe Bob Briggs added: “To create the real spirit of Halloween, I called up my buddies, the intergalactic warriors who live in Antarctica, and I asked them to bring some fear, some filth, and some fun.”
Two shock icons and more than 80 combined years of cultural carnage, on one very strange record. Of course we’re in. If there was ever a band built for a drive-in horror double bill, it’s GWAR.
