Ian Parry’s Consortium Project Relate the Legacy Of Empires

Ian Parry’s Consortium Project VI‘s latest single, ‘Pyramids Of Power’, is taken from the Legacy Of Empires album, out now on Frontiers Music Srl.

“The song depicts the part of the story where our ancient alien ancestors shared their technology with the peoples of the land, and together they would construct megalithic ‘Pyramids Of Power’,” according to singer and album series mastermind Ian Parry.

“Not as we have always been led to believe as a Pharaoh’s tomb, but colossal structures to enhance the power of the sun to light up the night skies,” he continued. “And so, our ancient ancestors, believing in the good of mankind, entrusted a chosen few with their treasured secrets and broke their golden rule from his homeland, the Pharaoh and his queen swore never would be revealed to others.”

Of the album, intended as an ambitious and cinematic work of progressive metal, Parry noted: “Legacy Of Empires not only celebrates my 45th year as a professional singer-songwriter but also allows me to revisit and finally complete the sixth chapter of the Consortium Project saga. The challenge with every Consortium Project album is to match the quality of the previous releases while bringing something new to the music. I believe Legacy Of Empires achieves exactly that.

“Being able to reunite musicians who have been part of the Consortium Project journey for decades, alongside outstanding new collaborators, made this album a very special experience,” he added.

About previous single ‘A Kingdom For Heroes’, he said: “The track features amazing performances from Stephan Lill on guitar (Vanden Plas) and the mighty Royal Hunt rhythm section of Andreas Passmark (bass) and Allan Sorensen (drums).

“In the album’s epic fictional concept story, the song illustrates the moment when our ancestors envisaged ‘Kingdom For Heroes’ and a sanctuary for all peoples. A sacred place where no one shall be forsaken and protected by a guardian who taught his people the wonders of A.I. alien technology and ways to enhance the energy from the heavens and the sun.”

Legacy Of Empires explores themes of power, legacy, conflict and the rise and fall of civilisations through a rich and dynamic musical landscape. From majestic symphonic passages to crushing progressive metal riffs and soaring melodic arrangements, the album captures the spirit of classic concept albums while pushing the Consortium Project sound into what’s considered “bold new territory”.

The record features an international lineup, including members of Vanden Plas and Kamelot and former members of Pain Of Salvation, while at the centre of it all stands Ian Parry, whose voice and artistic vision continue to define the Consortium Project legacy.

Legacy Of Empires features the tracks ‘The Constellation Of The Stars’, ‘Legacy Of Empires’, ‘A Declaration Of Independence’, ‘Gods From The Heavens Above’, ‘A Kingdom For Heroes’, ‘Pyramids Of Power’, ‘The Secrets Of Creation’, ‘Awake The Forgotten Souls’, ‘The Burden Of Truth’ and ‘Nature’s Eyes’.

Previously, back in June, the title track was released as a single along with an official video, about which Parry said: “When I first heard Johann Cadot‘s powerful riff, I knew immediately we had the title track for Legacy Of Empires and the foundation for a truly strong album.”
