Swedish metalcore visionaries Imminence have announced their sixth studio album Axis Mundi, set for release on 2nd October via Sumerian Records, and shared two new songs that arrive back to back.
Following ‘The Sword That Never Bends’, the first chapter in the album’s unfolding narrative, the band present ‘False Light’ and ‘Crestfallen’, each revealing a different emotional and sonic dimension of the record. ‘False Light’ is one of Axis Mundi‘s most ferocious moments, opening with a coiled intensity before erupting into full-scale devastation driven by Eddie Berg’s rage-fuelled growls, crushing guitars and pounding percussion, with delicate violin lines and brief clean passages heightening the tension. Its cinematic video was directed by Pavel Trebukhin.
‘Crestfallen’ reveals a more atmospheric, introspective side, built on hypnotic electronic textures, sweeping orchestration and a striking violin arrangement, Berg’s clean vocals gliding across the mix while distorted undercurrents linger beneath.
On Axis Mundi, Imminence refine their fusion of crushing metalcore, orchestral grandeur and cinematic storytelling into their most ambitious work to date. Self-produced by the band alongside engineer Henrik Udd and producer Drew Fulk, the album follows a mythological journey through a world suspended between life and death, emerging from the creative peak of 2024’s The Black.
“Duality has always been at the heart of Imminence. Our musical expression is a conversation between darkness and light, violence and beauty, despair and hope,” says guitarist Harald Barrett. “‘False Light’ and ‘Crestfallen’ embody those opposing forces more clearly than anything we’ve released before. They’re radically different in sound and emotion, but together they tell a single story.”
The band head to North America for a headline tour across autumn 2026 with Dying Wish and Gaerea, bringing their cinematic live production to stages across the continent.
On this evidence we reckon Axis Mundi could be the record that pushes Imminence into the front rank.
