“‘Stranded’ was a song that really stood out early on,” said Issa, also known as Isabell Øversveen, of the focus single taken from her new Fire And Ice album, out on Frontiers Music Srl.
“It’s a solid AOR track with a driving rhythm and a huge chorus!” she continued. “We went for a song that could have been on Heart’s Bad Animals album, as it was a massive inspiration to us all. I really hope you guys dig it!”
Those others mentioned being the brothers Tom Martin (Guitar, bass) and James Martin (Keyboards), who wrote and prpduced the new album, that captures that 1980s melodic rock spirit while retaining a contemporary sound throughout the Norweian AOR queen’s Fire And Ice album.
Commenting on her previous single, she made some interesting comparisons about influences, saying: “’The Call Of Love’ was inspired by classic rock bands like Ratt. It’s the heaviest track on the album, James added some cool keys and it gave it a lift, the male voice in the chorus is actually To (the vibe is kind of similar to Samantha Fox’s ‘Touch Me’)”.
Continuiing in this vein she said: “I’m really excited for the fans to hear this new album, it could be the most diverse set of songs yet. We have everything from the classic AOR sound of ‘Pay The Price‘, the Jim Steinman inspired ‘Bullet On The Road’ and the synthwave rock feel of ‘Running From The Night’. I’m confident this one will tick all the boxes. I hope you guys love it as much as me.”
The aforementioned ‘Pay The Price‘ has also been a single, with her noting that: Issa commented: “Pay The Price” was one of the first songs we did and stood out to us early. It has everything thrown at it, huge choirs, layers of synths, cool guitars and an interesting story. A special mention to Kris Barras for the cool video!”
The album’s full track listing is: ‘The Call Of Love’, ‘Stranded’, ‘Fire & Ice’, ‘Sea Of Desire’, ‘All Or Nothing’, ‘The Shadow Of Night’, ‘Bullet On The Road’, ‘Pay The Price’, ‘One Step To Paradise’, ‘Running From The Night‘ and ‘The Waiting Game’.
From soaring, emotionally charged ballads to arena-ready rock anthems, Fire And Ice showcases Issa’s powerful, unmistakable voice, and reaffirms her status as a central figure in European AOR.
