Parker Barrow have issued their cover of The Black Crowes‘ ‘My Morning Song‘, taken from their sophomore album Hold The Mash, as their latest single.
Delivered with a more hammer-to-the-head approach than The Black Crowes‘ original, a Humble Pie-inspired country soul groover itself, Parker Barrow continue to impress on new single ‘My Morning Song‘.
Megan Kane‘s grit ‘n’ razor-cut vocals are even more applicable than Chris Robinson‘s for this waking-up-hungover tune, that’s matched by a particularly muscular half-nelson of a guitar solo, then slowing matters down akin to the latter part of Derek And The Dominos‘ ‘Layla‘ before Kane‘s back in adding soul, with the eventual fade-out being a tad more faithful to the original.
That Parker Barrow can stand alongside those classic acts listed and need not feel embarrassed, or that they’ve the audacity to put out a single that’s some eight and a half minutes long, and one that you might actually listen to, explains why this band is special.
The band have also announced that UK-based southern blues country rock band, Wood Burnt Red, will be their special guests on the forthcoming tour.
Parker Barrow‘s new album Hold The Mash features songs featured on their earlier EP of the same name, mixing influences old and new on what they term their “vintage-shop rock”. With the band having earned a reputation for their powerhouse live shows, the tour should prove a good one, backed by strong support.
Hailing from Worcestershire, UK, Wood Burnt Red are riding high with the recent release of their debut album, Hold On Tight. Rooted in country, fueled by rock and roll, and forged from real-life stories that hit hard because they are true, it delivers eleven tracks of unfiltered emotion, huge hooks, and raw Southern-rock fire from one of the UK’s most exciting new bands.
Tickets are available from Planet Rock Tickets, The Gig Cartel and Parker Barrow‘s website.
