Swedish folkloric progressive rock band Kaipa will release Sommargryningsljus, their new album on 28th June through InsideOutMusic.
Ahead of that, is the second single from the album, ‘Revelationview’ available digitally now, alongside a video you can check out here at RAMzine.
Band keyboard player and vocalist Hans Lundin said of the new single: “The most folk music-inspired song on the new Kaipa album Sommargryningsljus with both violin and whistles. Once in a lifetime, or for some, maybe several times, you encounter that magical moment when time is out of sight, and you are just amazed by what you experience. I have chosen to call this ‘Revelationview’. This is a song about this experience.”
Featuring Lundin, alongside Per Nilsson (Electric & acoustic guitars), Jonas Reingold (Bass), Darby Todd (Drums), plus Patrik Lundström and Aleena Gibson on vocals, Sommargryningsljus will be the band’s 15th long playing album, and be released 49 years after the release of their self-titled debut album.
Tracks featured will be: ‘Sommarskymningsljus’, ‘Seven Birds’, ‘Like Thousand Dawns’, Revelationview’, ‘Chased By Wolves And Burned By The Sun’, ‘Spiderweb Train’, Songs In Our Hands’, Sommargryningsljus‘ and ‘Sommargryningsljus (Single Edit)‘.
The album will be available as limited. CD media book with extensive 24-pages booklet, 12’’ gatefold 180g 2LP black vinyl, and a digital album. It can pre-ordered by clicking here.
‘Revelationview’ follows in the wake of the recent ‘Sommargryningsljus (Single Edit)’ single that was in fact a mélange of the album’s opening track ‘Sommarskymningsljus’ and its closing track ‘Sommargryningsljus‘.
That song is about dusk and a journey through the night to meet the light again at dawn. The single comes with a lyric video that showcases the mystical vibes of twilight and gives a glimpse of the album aesthetics and illustrations that you can check it out here at RAMzine.
Lund commented on the single, ”I had written all the songs for the album and the total playing time was 70 minutes, but then something unexpected happened. One day when I was recording with Aleena Gibson, we took a break and went out into my garden to have a cup of coffee. Suddenly Aleena started singing some notes and I said it was beautiful. ‘Okay, let’s write a song,‘ she said. So, we returned to the studio and 15 minutes later a new song had been born.
“We were both delighted with the result and said that this song must be on the album and the lyrics must be in Swedish. I developed the song and created an interlude built on the same chords. The melody was hovering around in the studio and it landed gracefully in my fingers when I started to play. One early morning a few weeks later, the words suddenly came floating down and landed in my consciousness.“
