Madball are back with their tenth studio album. Not Your Kingdom lands on 24 July 2026 through Nuclear Blast, pairing the New York hardcore institution’s familiar tales of street survival with a more reflective, introspective streak.
Leading the way is second single ‘Tethered’, which also opens the record. Built on the bouncy, high octane groove that has always been the band’s lifeblood, the track is a personal reckoning with everything Madball stands for, and its video, directed by frontman Freddy Cricien with Dave Causa, doubles as a love letter to the New York City streets where the band came up.
“‘Tethered’ is the opening song on the record and that’s ironic because it’s one of the last ones written for the album,” Cricien says. “Very bouncy groovy NYHC that really transported me back to the 90s … it has a ‘nostalgic’ feel but still manages to come across as something new for us.”
Not Your Kingdom was tracked at The Boneyard Studios in Nashville, with additional interludes recorded by Jeff “Stress” Davis and Chuck Treece at Chop Shop Studios. The album was produced and engineered by Andrew Baylis, Aiden Thompson and Grady Saxman, with mixing and mastering by Lee Rouse. The cover carries real weight too, featuring photography by the late Cornell Capa, courtesy of Magnum Photos and the Cornell Capa Estate.
It follows lead single ‘Rebel Kids’ and arrives with the band as combative and sincere as ever. Fronted by Cricien alongside guitarist Mike Gurnari, drummer Mike Justian and bassist Paul Delaney, Madball remain a benchmark for the genre they helped define.
