MC Roads’ Driving Music

MC Roads is a new band formed by Mike Cross the original founding guitarist for American rock act Sponge – They debuted with the single Call It What You Want’ back in May and follow that up with  ‘Smile Like A Knife‘ on 12th July.

Hailing from Detroit Michigan, Cross was a co-writer on Sponge’s platinum selling album Rotting Piñata, sophomore album Wax Ecstatic and third release New Pop Sunday, that catapulted the band into rock star status .

They toured extensively, headlining shows in the US and in Europe and supporting the likes of Alice In ChainsKISS and Soundgarden. Cross also appeared on the US late night talk show circuit on such programmes The Late Show with David LettermanThe Conan O’Brien Show and the Jon Stewart Show.

After his departure, due to creative and business differences, he turned away from music business to focus on his personal life. However, Cross continued to write, record and produce various music projects and develop his own vocal abilities.

Now, also taking on lead vocals for MC Roads he’s offering a blend of melodic, guitar driven music mixing new and classic styles.

‘Smile Like A Knife‘ is a hook-driven song of betrayal and greed, contemplating if you should bleed the kindness and the trust of a good friend. You can order it here. As with previous single ‘Call it What You Want’ it’s a snapshot from their upcoming EP, entitled No Nostalgia. You can pre-save/order that single here and watch the video for it right here at RAMzine.
