Rolla Ease Your Mind

After firing up festivals all over the land this summer, tearing into sets as if their lives depended on it, Manchester quintet Rolla release new single ‘Ease My Mind’,

Available on Golden Robot Records, it’s the first song to preview their debut EP, that is set to be released early next year.

‘Ease My Mind takes the towering anthems of The Verve as a starting point and ups the ante with elements of The Sex Pistols and Black Rebel Motorcyle Club, for a roar of sound flooding with supercharged shoegaze guitars and charismatic vocal delivery. The track was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales with production from Nick Brine (OasisStone Roses) and mixing courtesy of Gareth Nuttall (The Lottery WinnersThe K’s).

Rolla commented, “‘Ease My Mind’ was written as a reaction to feeling the constant pressures of daily life, the same old routine and all that shite. I guess it’s kind of a cliché, but it’s an anthem to get you up and get you going and prove to people that you are more than just your daily grind, and that there’s more to life than just answering to your bosses. For a lot of people that whole other world is rock ‘n’ roll, it will always give you all the answers.

“We recorded it at Rockfield, which was a week to never forget. It’s a cool old place, and it was a pleasure to work with local legend Nick Brine. Creative carnage at its finest.”

The band were formed by the Gilmore brothers, James (vocals) and Luke (bass), who added Tom Paddon (guitar) and Luke McConnell (guitar) before their most recent recruit Saul Bardsley (drums) completed the line-up.

Drawing on influences both new and old (also taking in the likes of Kasabian, IDLES, and DMA’S) they made it their mission to shake-up rock ‘n’ roll conventions and to face the issues of their generation head on. That ambition started with early self-released tracks and more recent live performances.

The new single is available here and you can check out the video here at RAMzine.
