The Commoners Ask is it “Too Soon To Know You”?

Canadian roots-rock quintet The Commoners are on track for another banger year in 2024 with the release of their hotly tipped third album, Restless. The only downside to that being it’s not due for release until 21st June via Gypsy Soul Records.

Making up for that as something ‘Too Soon To Know You‘ the third single taken from the new album, out digitally now. You can check out a preview of the track here at RAMzine and order it here – The band reminiscing about a bond broken by time, that has one step in the lamenting ballad camp but holds a whimsical musical refrain that hints at something more.

Restless will feature the tracks: ‘Devil Teasin’ Me’, ‘Shake You Off’, ‘The Way I Am’, ‘Restless’, ‘Gone Without Warning’, ‘Who Are You (Ain’t Knocked Down)’, ‘Body And Soul’, ‘See You Again’, ‘Too Soon To Know You’ and ‘All That We Have’.

A natural evolution from their 2022 album Find A Better Way, 2024’s ten track strong Restless album is said to offer “a peek behind the curtain of success, revealing the gruelling routines and ragged emotions that hide behind the glamorous aesthetic of a rock band on the rise”.

With introspective, slower-tempo numbers like the new single pocketed amongst rip-roaring anthems, the new album, recorded at RHC Music in Toronto, has been described as “a portrait of a hardworking group revitalising a classic genre”.

‘Too Soon To Know You‘ follows ‘The Way I Am’, where with a studied Black Crowes/Humble Pie delivery the band lay down the backbone for lead singer Chris Medhurst to state his modus operandi for life, before hitting the power chords for a more anthemic approach, alongside some wide-lipped gospel harmonies.

Before that was ‘Devil Teasin’ Meand that one proved immensely popular on British classic rock radio including a 10-week run and over 90 spins on Planet Rock. The song is available on all streaming platforms here, and you can check out the music video right here at RAMzine.
