The Dying Hunt From Static Abyss

Described as a “monstrous hybrid of twisted, doom-laden brutal death” and featuring longstanding members of the US metal scene, Static Abyss’ third studio album, The Dying Hunt, has been released alongside the title track as a single.

Static Abyss is headed up by Greg Wilkinson (Guitars, bass) and Chris Reifert (Vocals), both also members of Autopsy and Deathgrave, with the latter also having started his career with genre pioneers, Death. They are now officially joined by Necrot’s Chad Gailey on drums.

The band’s debut album was 2022’s Labyrinth Of Veins, then followed by 2023’s Aborted From Reality.

The Dying Hunt was recorded at Earhammer Studios in Oakland, CA, with engineering, mixing and mastering overseen by Greg Wilkinson himself.

The album is said to plunge the listener into the festering, psychedelic swamps of lunacy, where spiralling melodies texture relentless savage riffs for an effective nightmare-inducing trip through the sonic abyss.

A darkly dystopian landscape that descends into sick death metal combined with crust and doom elements, The Dying Hunt features ‘Skull Blasted’, ‘Lobotomized at Last’, ‘The Dying Hunt’, ‘Wall Of Delusion’, ‘Once A Corpse (Always A Corpse)’, ‘Bleeding In The Fog’, ‘Sinew Leech’, ‘Nowhere Forever’, ‘Defleshed And Forlorn’, ‘Volcanic Womb’ and ‘Darkness At The End Of The Light’.

Available on limited nekro vinyl, black vinyl, CD and digitally, it features cover art courtesy of Jon Santos, while the video for the single was created by Matthew Vickerstaff.
