The Rolling Stones Announce New Album Foreign Tongues

The Rolling Stones have announced their highly anticipated new studio album, Foreign Tongues, set for release on 10th July 2026 via Polydor/Universal Music. The 14-track collection arrives less than three years after the Grammy-winning, multi-platinum Hackney Diamonds, and marks an extraordinarily quick turnaround for a band who once let two decades pass between original studio records.

The lead single ‘In The Stars’ is streaming now, with a physical release to follow on 15th May. Album opener ‘Rough And Twisted’ has also dropped digitally alongside the single, with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood marking the announcement at a media launch in Brooklyn earlier this week. We really like the slightly mischievous lead-in — the band quietly issued ‘Rough And Twisted’ on a limited white-label vinyl under the name The Cockroaches ahead of the announcement, sparking exactly the kind of speculation among collectors and fans that makes a record feel properly anticipated rather than just scheduled.

Foreign Tongues was recorded in under a month at Metropolis Studios in West London, with Jagger, Richards and Wood reuniting with Grammy-winning producer Andrew Watt, who also helmed Hackney Diamonds. The album features core collaborators Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford and Steve Jordan, alongside a special appearance from Charlie Watts, captured during one of his final recording sessions before his passing in 2021. Guest contributors include Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, The Cure‘s Robert Smith and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Jagger said of the sessions: “I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”

Keith Richards added: “The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds and it was great to be working in London again, and to have that London vibe around us. It was a month of concentrated punch.”

The album’s striking cover artwork is a painting by acclaimed American artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn, who described creating it as “a dialogue with one of the most enduring forces in cultural history.”

Foreign Tongues lands on 10th July across CD, deluxe CDs, cassette, multiple vinyl variants, retailer-exclusive editions and special box sets.
