Converge have shared ‘Doom In Bloom’, the latest single from their forthcoming second LP of 2026, Hum Of Hurt, out 5th June via Epitaph and Deathwish Inc.
The album takes its name from a real-world phenomenon, a low, persistent noise registering between 30 and 40 hertz that has been reported in Ipswich, Massachusetts, Auckland, Windsor, Ontario, and most persistently in Taos, New Mexico, where it has haunted residents for decades. Vocalist and lyricist Jacob Bannon reframes The Hum as a manifestation of human suffering: “What if ‘The Hum’ is the culmination of all the pain in the world, creating an audible signal across the universe? Something noticeable to others operating on a similar emotional plane.”
Hum Of Hurt follows Love Is Not Enough as the band’s second full-length release of 2026, both records emerging from a single creative period that produced enough material for two distinct albums. Where its predecessor offered a bleak but empathetic read on the human condition, Hum Of Hurt strips things back further — rawer, more exposed, more direct.
‘Doom In Bloom’ is a brutal preview. Guitarist Kurt Ballou‘s spiky riffs scrape against Nate Newton‘s bass and Ben Koller‘s drums, with Bannon’s throat-tearing vocal at full pitch. “It’s dark and pointed right at you,” he says. “Lyrically, I’m exploring how my own middle-aged introspection doesn’t always bring a brighter light. I see my own trappings reflected in those around me. Here I am imploring them to slip the noose to see another day.”
The album was recorded and mixed by Ballou at God City in Salem, Massachusetts. Bannon collaborated with renowned UK artist Thomas Hooper on the cover art — a mixed-media piece built from EKG signals, seismographic patterns and figures representing the five elements of Pancha Bhuta: Prithvi (Earth), Ap (Water), Agni (Fire), Vayu (Air) and Akasha (Aether), all caught in chaos.

Converge head to Europe and the UK in late June and July, with festival appearances at Jera On Air, Outbreak Festival in Manchester, Obscene Extreme in the Czech Republic and Resurrection Fest in Spain, plus headline shows in Antwerp, Cologne, Vienna and Milan with Heriot, Boneflower and Crouch in support.
