Irish rock powerhouse XIII Doors will release their debut album, Into The Unknown, on 20th February.
Hailing from Shannon, County Clare, XIII Doors is a four-piece hard rock outfit with a sound said to be “as bold and distinctive as the landscapes of their Irish homeland”. The band draws inspiration from a wide spectrum of influences, blending the raw energy of Alter Bridge, the melodic intensity of Tremonti and Alice In Chains, and the anthemic flair of Daughtry and Five Finger Death Punch. This eclectic fusion is further enriched by founding member, vocalist, and guitarist DJ O’Sullivan’s deep appreciation for traditional music styles, including Irish, Arabic, and Hindustani traditions, that subtly permeate the band’s compositions.
They kicked off 2025 with a bang, with ‘See How You’ve Come So Far’ the band’s fourth single that was arguably their most accessible track to date. The song begins with a gentle, almost acoustic introduction, before building into a powerful riff and vocal melody. Compared to the band’s earlier releases, this track leans more towards hard rock than metal, offering a sound that’s as introspective as it is impactful.
Speaking about the new single, O’Sullivan said; “Personally, I feel this song holds the deepest meaning for me, both lyrically and musically, across the entire album. For the guitar solo, I had the privilege of borrowing a Gibson Les Paul from the brother of my late guitar teacher (who has since also sadly passed away). Recording with that guitar felt like a full-circle moment – creating music meant to inspire others with an instrument that belonged to someone who inspired me so much during my teenage years. It really is something that I’m happy we got to do when recording.
“Lyrically, the song is a reflection on life’s journey, seen through the eyes of someone who hasn’t always had an easy path, but has made changes for the better. It’s about recognising that even during tough times, progress is being made. Only when you look back can you truly appreciate how far you’ve come. It’s a reminder to be proud of who you are and to embrace the journey you’re on.”
XIII Doors’ debut album Into the Unknown will blend hard-hitting anthems with introspective ballads.
“This album represents everything we’ve been through as a band and as individuals. It’s about facing the unknown with conviction and embracing the road ahead, no matter how uncertain it may seem. Every track tells a story, and we can’t wait for the world to hear it,” said O’Sullivan.
Tracks featured on the album are: ‘Unleash The Beast’, ‘Sorceress Of Lies’, Make A Life Again’, ‘Lead The Way’, Face The Truth’, Into The Unknown’, See How Far You’ve Come’ and ‘Inside’.
Already endorsed by Rotosound Strings, aside from DJ O’Sullivan, Flash Murphy also handles guitar and vocals – A Drogheda native, Flash has been touring and playing for years, bringing a wealth of experience to the group – not to mention the best beard in the band, apparently. Pat ‘Pablo’ Byrne plays bass guitar and vocals – Drawing from years of navigating the music industry, he’s endorsed by Warwick Basses and Ampeg Amplification. Drummer Cian ‘Whoasley’ O’Sullivan is the newest member of the band, having been involved with the project on the sidelines.
