The Rolling Stones have announced Foreign Tongues, Loose Lips, a deluxe edition of their latest studio album Foreign Tongues, featuring five new recordings. It will be released on 27 November via Polydor/Universal Music.
The five songs come from the creative period surrounding Foreign Tongues:
- ‘Where There’s A Will’
- ‘Who You Callin’ Crazy’, featuring jazz saxophonist Courtney Pine
- ‘Human Tide’
- ‘Bad Luck Hideaway’, a duet vocal by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards with drums by the late Charlie Watts
- ‘She Still Comes Around’
‘Who You Callin’ Crazy’ gets its digital release on 16 October, the first taste of the previously unreleased material. ‘Bad Luck Hideaway’ appeared earlier as an iTunes exclusive bonus track and as the B-side to a new streaming release of ‘Mr. Charm’.
Foreign Tongues was released on 10 July and topped the charts in 14 countries. The Times called it “a career high” in a five star review, and The Telegraph also gave it five stars, praising its “vitality, wit, richness, energy and joy”. It arrived less than three years after the Grammy-winning Hackney Diamonds.
The deluxe edition comes in three forms:
- Vinyl: a heavyweight red vinyl LP of the five new recordings, packaged with the original album on CD.
- 2CD: a six-panel digisleeve with a 16-page booklet and gold foil detailing, with the full album on CD1 and Loose Lips on CD2.
- Digital.
Two albums in under three years and still more songs in the vault. Most bands six decades in would be content with a greatest hits tour, and we love that the Stones keep choosing the studio instead. Another chance to hear Charlie Watts on a new recording will mean a lot to fans.
