Swedish gothic rock band Scheitan offer fans a taste of their forthcoming untitled album, due in 2027, through latest single ‘A Million Days’.
‘A Million Days’ continues the band’s exploration of melodic gloom, featuring lyrics that touch on themes of endurance, internal conflict and the weight of “dead desires”. The song describes a journey through “a thousand fires” and “a thousand battles”, centred around a heavy refrain of emotional isolation and the “drowning of a lonely soul”. Pierre Törnkvist of Scheitan commented on the rapid return to the studio: “I immediately started working on new songs after we released the last album. There are already ideas for about four or five songs, and I guess we will have another album ready in about 12 months if everything works out as with the previous two albums.”
‘A Million Days’ is available to listen to now on all streaming platforms, including Bandcamp.
The band recently also shared a video for the track ‘Every Little Thing’ from their most recent album, Wine For a Tormented Soul. Songs For The Gothic People is the other album Törnkvist referred to, and it saw the band’s return after a 24 year hiatus. “It’s a very dark track,” Törnkvist said of ‘Every Little Thing’. “Lyrically it speaks of life being totally pointless in the end, as absolutely every little thing around us withers and dies. Visually, I tried to find something that could match this. The children playing with a total unawareness of the truth of the world is truly matching the lyrical concept of the song, together with the devil lurking in the shadows.”
Wine For a Tormented Soul is available via The Circle Music and digitally on major streaming platforms.
