Detroit hard rock quintet Eva Under Fire have unleashed a raw lyric video for their brand-new single, ‘The Words You Say.’
The mid-tempo, heavy-hitting rager is the latest taste of the band’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Villainous, which lands on July 10, 2026, via Better Noise Music. The track follows the album’s explosive title track, a massive collaboration featuring In This Moment’s Maria Brink that RAMzine covered earlier this spring during our initial Eva Under Fire and In This Moment collaboration reveal.
‘The Words You Say’ tackles the heavy realities of emotional manipulation and gaslighting within toxic dynamics. Frontwoman Amanda Lyberg pulled back the curtain on the inspiration behind the track, stating:
“This song is about being in a toxic relationship when words are often twisted and used against us. It scrambles our minds and makes reality seem so far away.”
Lyberg’s lyrics stem from a deeply authentic place of empathy and professional experience. Alongside her role fronting the band, she is a practicing psychotherapist specializing in trauma, grief, and addiction recovery. This unique perspective heavily informs the band’s self-described “hard rock therapy” style, which also fueled their previous emotional single Eva Under Fire’s ‘Murder Scene’, focusing on body dysmorphia and anxiety.
Massive 2026 World Tour Announced
Following a relentless winter run alongside Jeris Johnson and heavy metal mainstays Butcher Babies, Eva Under Fire are preparing to live on the road for the rest of the year.
Beginning this July, the Detroit five-piece will hit the road as direct support for Five Finger Death Punch’s 20th Anniversary World Tour 2026. The massive North American amphitheater trek includes special guest Cody Jinks and comes right on the heels of the headliner’s own massive new music announcement for Five Finger Death Punch’s ‘Eye Of The Storm’. The tour will stop at iconic venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre before wrapping up in mid-October.
With over 100 million global streams already under their belt, Villainous promises to push the band’s boundary-blurring alternative metal soundscapes even further into the mainstream rock spotlight.
