Gloryhammer announce Space 1993 and UK tour

Power metal heroes Gloryhammer have opened another chapter of their Space Kingdom of Fife saga with a heroic new single, ‘Die with a Sword in My Hand’, and announced their fifth album Space 1993: Wrath of Kor-Virliath, out 16th October via Napalm Records.

A direct sequel to 2015’s Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards, the new record continues the epic tale of the McFife dynasty. It follows Angus McFife V, Crown Prince of Fife, last heard on 2022’s ‘Fly Away’, as he ventures across spacetime to the distant future of 1993, where his destiny lies. In the single itself, the alleged safe haven of Aberdeen is overrun by demons, and the future looks uncertain.

The track arrives with a suitably lavish animated video that follows the story in the style of a TV show. As bassist The Hootsman puts it, “I don’t always die, but when I do, it’s with a sword in my hand.”

Across eleven tracks, the band draw on a more diverse palette than ever, from classic power metal and thrash to synth rock and sweeping orchestral soundscapes, without losing the hook-driven songwriting they are known for. Produced by the band and mixed by Jacob Hansen, it builds to a near thirteen-minute closer with a title too gloriously daft to spoil here.

“Mighty warriors, rejoice!” say Gloryhammer. “Multidimensional wormholes, abandoned space stations, and epic battles await at the final frontier of Space 1993. For the eternal glory of Dundee!”

The band tour Europe through autumn 2026, with support from Majestica and Arion, closing on three UK dates:

20th Nov, London, Islington Assembly Hall
21st Nov, Manchester, Academy 2
22nd Nov, Glasgow, Garage

Gloriously over the top and all the better for it, we reckon Space 1993 is exactly what the doctor ordered.
