Jared James Nichols Boxing Out

Is Wisconsin-born guitarist Jared James Nichols an Anglophile or what? No sooner has he finished touring the UK, then it’s announced he’ll be heading back in Spring 2024, supporting Mr Big both here and in Europe.

Ahead of that comes a new single, in a cover of ‘Man In The Box’ by Alice in Chains, that’s out now digitally here alongside a video you can check out here at RAMzine.

’Man In The Box’ was originally recorded just for fun at Sweetwater Studios. It turned out so well, we knew we had to share it with the world,” said Nicholls.

’Man In The Box‘ is one of my favourite songs ever,” he remarked. “I remember this being one of the first songs I really connected to as a child. Between the bluesy vocals and slinky guitar riff, all the way down to the sludgy overtones, it’s timeless and pure perfection. I started jamming this one at my shows because it is so much fun to play, the audience response was instant.”

The Mr. Big tour features dates at Nottingham Rock City (March 19), Manchester O2 Ritz (March 20), Wolverhampton KK’s Steel Mill (March 22), and London O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire (March 23). Tickets available from here and here. The tour coincides with the release of Nichols’ Signature Epiphone Les Paul guitar Blues Power (as featured in the ‘Man In The Box’  video) and he will be making special appearances at multiple guitar retail stores along the tour route to be announced soon here.

’Man In The Box’ moves steadily like a surveillance tank, primed and ready, and played loud a good way to dispense with a hangover.
