Lee Aaron is planning a Re-Vamp for next year. That’s when the multi-platinum-selling singer, songwriter and producer will release it worldwide through Metalville Records.
22 January 2027 is the date to keep in mind, and the album is being described as “a powerful overview” of the very best of the singer’s music to date, featuring eight modern rerecordings of her classic tracks (including ‘Metal Queen’ and ‘Whatcha Do To My Body’) plus four brand new songs, said to have been “mixed to kick-ass perfection” by Juno Award winner Ben Kaplan (Biffy Clyro, Mother Mother, Kittie).
Aaron is still committing her fiery voice and creativity towards helping break down barriers for women in the rock genre, and new single ‘Fight Like A Girl’ is all about female empowerment and the act of rising above adversity. It’s a modern day rock anthem about standing up for oneself, as the lyrics cry out: “I’m a lion wearing heels, a butterfly made of steel.”
The Canadian singer formed the Lee Aaron Project at the tender age of 19, and it was with her second album, 1984’s Metal Queen, that she gained deserved international appeal. Her 1989 hit longplayer Bodyrock has been described as “one of the 20 most influential albums of the 1980s, with its impact on the next generation of female rockers undeniable”.
In 2023, Aaron was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame, recognised as a seminal female hard rocker, and she has also ventured successfully into other musical territories. Other accolades include 10 Juno nominations, a CMPA Songwriters Award, 3 Toronto Music Awards and a MuchMusic Award.
Re-Vamp features: ‘Fight Like A Girl’, ‘Metal Queen 2027’, ‘Powerline 2027’, ‘Hot To Be Rocked 2027’, ‘Barely Holdin’ On 2027′, ‘Hands On 2027’, ‘Some Girls Do 2027’, ‘Whatcha Do To My Body 2027’, ‘Only Human 2027’, ‘WWJD (What Would Jesus Drink)’, ‘The Heart Wants’ and ‘Blood Money’.
Featured on the album are Sean Kelly (guitar), Dave Reimer (bass) and John Cody (drums), who will be touring with Lee Aaron in 2027. Both the album and the live dates offer a chance for new listeners to dive into Lee Aaron’s musical world alongside longtime fans already on board for the ride.
