With a European tour underway, Germany’s Masterplan will release a new album in June, with singles filtering through at regular intervals.
Guitarist Roland Grapow, who founded the band along with drummer Uli Kusch following their exit from Helloween, talked about Masterplan’s latest single, ‘Electric Nights’: “‘Electric Nights’ is our road anthem. Loud, fast, and born for life on tour. It drops right as we are in the middle of our European tour, and it couldn’t fit better.
“It’s classic heavy metal. Big riffs, strong energy, no bullshit. Just pure fun and power. This release is dedicated to our loyal fans: those who stand with us at every show, sing every word, and keep the flame of heavy metal alive.”
Metalmorphosis is the title of the new album, Masterplan’s first since 2013’s Novum Initium, with Grapow commenting: “Metalmorphosis really captures what this album means to us: a transformation, but still true to the spirit of Masterplan. We’ve grown over the years, both as musicians and as people, and you can hear that in the new songs. Some ideas go back many years, and now they’ve finally come to life. It’s powerful, melodic, and emotional. Classic Masterplan, but with a new energy.”
The whole band chipped in regarding previous single ‘Through The Storm’, saying: “We absolutely love this one! It’s pure metal: straightforward, energetic, and fun in its own way. The song was inspired by our experience playing metal cruises last year, including one crazy show on deck during a storm with freezing wind and heavy waves. That wild energy is exactly what this track is about. The video captures that spirit perfectly. We’re just having fun, but even tough conditions can’t stop us from playing and enjoying what we do.”
Since their 2003 self-titled debut, Masterplan have earned international recognition, toured extensively across Europe and beyond, and picked up industry accolades along the way. After a prolonged hiatus from studio releases, the band have reemerged with renewed creative drive.
Metalmorphosis features the tracks ‘Chase The Light’, ‘Electric Nights’, ‘Shadow Man’, ‘Bound To Fall’, ‘Pain Of Yesterday’, ‘Metalmorphosis’, ‘Through The Storm’, ‘Ghostlight’, ‘The Call’ and ‘Rise Again (Album Version)’.
Metalmorphosis is due out on 26th June through Frontiers Music Srl.
