Motörhead are marking two decades of Kiss of Death with a 20th anniversary edition, out 3rd July via BMG on expanded double LP and 2CD.
Originally released in 2006, Kiss of Death was the band’s 18th studio album and a ferocious reminder of Motörhead‘s no-frills spirit. Driven by Lemmy‘s unmistakable growl, backed by Phil Campbell’s blistering guitar work and Mikkey Dee’s razor-sharp precision drumming, it picked up exactly where 2004’s Inferno left off and leaned hard into the heavier edge of the band’s sound. Guest appearances from Mike Inez of Alice in Chains and C.C. DeVille of Poison added to the firepower, with standout cuts including ‘Sucker’, ‘Trigger’ and the fan favourite ‘God Was Never On Your Side’.
The anniversary edition has been newly half-speed mastered from the original tapes and arrives with fresh liner notes from Dave Ling paying tribute to Phil Campbell, who passed away in March of this year aged 64 after 31 years as Motörhead‘s longest-serving guitarist. The vinyl edition includes an exclusive bonus live LP capturing the band’s 2007 performance at Lowlands Festival in Biddinghuizen, Netherlands, available on vinyl for the first time. The CD edition adds three further bonus tracks including ‘R.A.M.O.N.E.S (2006 Version)’, ‘Whiplash’ and a live take of ‘R.A.M.O.N.E.S’.
To mark the release, a brand new official lyric video for ‘God Was Never On Your Side’ has been created by Andy Pilkington, alongside a sneak peek of ‘Killed by Death’ from the Lowlands performance, out now on all streaming platforms.
The full 12-track studio album sits on disc one, with the Lowlands set on disc two spanning fan-favourite material from across the Motörhead catalogue including ‘Snaggletooth’, ‘Stay Clean’, ‘Killers’, ‘Metropolis’, ‘Over The Top’, ‘In The Name Of Tragedy’, ‘Going To Brazil’, ‘Killed By Death’ and a closing ‘Aces of Spades’.
Kiss of Death (20th Anniversary Edition) arrives 3rd July via BMG.
