The Hard-Ons Fall for Everything

Fresh from a successful tour of Europe, and Australian album launch tour, punk band The Hard-Ons release their new single ‘In Falls Everything’, taken from their new album, Ripper ‘23, that’s reached #3 on the Aria Australian Albums chart.

A punch in the face with powerful driving bass and big attention-grabbing riffs. Band member Peter Black noted: “Last few albums we’ve been connecting/reconnecting with the more traditional aspects of Oz rock… When ya have the radio blasting whatever comes on will seep into your noggin… can you dig it!! “

You can stream/buy ‘Ripper 23’ here. Ripper 23 is out on Golden Robot Records on varied coloured vinyl formats, black vinyl, CD, cassette and digitally.

It is the band’s 14th studio album, their second with Tim Rogers (You Am I) out front, but their first with Rogers as a fully integrated member, contributing to songwriting and arrangements.

The cover art and album title are inspired adaptations of the crass and outrageously sexist 1970s chart compilations unique to the Australian music marketplace. But in the hands of The Hard-Ons, it’s really just a bit cheeky.

Alongside Black and Rogers, the band is round out by Ray Ahn and Murray Ruse, the group having released their previous ‘Apartment For Two’ back in spring. It was co-written by Rogers and Black, is a frenetic pop-punk blast; three minutes of squealing guitars, pounding drums, pulverising bass, and sitting atop – like a semi-detached ring-pull some tense attitude-laden vocals.

The video for  the single was produced and directed by Jonathan J. Sequeira at Living Eyes, and manages to pull off the unique feat of providing homage to both an obscure fictional US teenage musical group, Mulligan Stew, and the UK’s pioneering electronic musician and renowned face transplanter, Aphex Twin.
