Out now is ‘Beyond Zeta Reticuli’, an instrumental composition from Yngwie Malmsteen’s forthcoming album Hell Or High Water, to be released on 13 November via Music Theories Recordings/Artone Label Group.
For those not starstruck, Zeta Reticuli is a wide binary star system located about 39.3 light-years from Earth in the southern constellation of Reticulum. It’s famous in science fiction as the home of LV-426 and LV-223, the fictional moons featured in films like Alien and Prometheus, as well as various American comics. Its connection with UFOs and extraterrestrials goes back even further, though, to the famous alleged Betty and Barney Hill abduction case from the 1960s.
The song came out of Malmsteen’s personal interest in alien life forms. The Swedish guitarist’s a card-carrying believer in that regard, commenting: “I’ve always loved big, heavy themes, with strong melodies and ornamental counterpoints. This composition entails all of these things that intrigue me. Enjoy.”
‘Beyond Zeta Reticuli’ follows the release of ‘Now or Never’ as a single from Hell Or High Water, the album’s nine tracks in total being: ‘Now or Never’, ‘Am Caprice/Hell Or High Water’, ‘(He Is) Living A Lie’, ‘Antikythera’, ‘(On The) Battlefield’, ‘Beyond Zeta Reticuli’, ‘Prestissimo In Bm/Adagio’, ‘Eye For An Eye’ and ‘Father’.
