Night Thieves Metaxis Album Revie

Night Thieves are a band that intrigued me a lot. I always love discovering female-fronted bands, as I feel like there aren’t many of them, so when I find one I really like, I listen to them on repeat!

Night Thieves are: Jess Moyle on vocals, Paul Andrew on guitar and synths, Rick Hunter-Burns on bass, and Ryan Delglyn on drums.

They are an alt-metal band based in London, UK and have been active since 2018. So far the band have released two EPs, with their debut album Metaxis due to land everywhere on 20th March 2026, packed with 10 tracks.

The band teamed up with Grammy-nominated heavyweight Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Nova Twins, Funeral For A Friend), who also produced their EP Polarity in 2024, to create their upcoming debut album.

They released their first track ‘Obsidian’ on 24th October 2025, followed by second track ‘Mycelia’ on 16th January 2026.

The band has earned acclaim from Metal Hammer, Planet Rock, Powerplay, Kerrang!, BBC Radio One, Total Rock, Fireworks Magazine, Rock Radio Magazine, and ERB Magazine. They also played a recent gig in Bournemouth in February 2026.

Now onto the review for this debut album. You can tell their sound is influenced by Bring Me The Horizon, Funeral For A Friend, and Nova Twins, and that’s not a bad thing! This has to be one of my favourite albums I have listened to this year so far. It keeps you hooked for sure!

Jess’s voice is absolutely incredible. So powerful, intense, and in some parts very guttural. The whole album is filled with soaring guitar riffs, pounding basslines, electronic sounds, and impressively loud hard-hitting drum beats.

As usual, a few tracks caught my attention and are definitely my favourites on the album.

First of all, their second track ‘Mycelia’ starts with some electronic sounds, then hits you hard with the heaviness from the drum beats and guitar riffs. Lots of emotion and intensity coming from Jess’s vocals, with some melodic moments.

‘Running (Out of Time)’ is quite catchy and definitely has some headbanging moments throughout. The soaring guitar riffs hit so impressively in this track.

‘In Between’ comes in two parts, which I found very unique. Part 1 is only 1 minute 22 seconds and is more melodic and slow, with the heaviness coming in near the end to prepare you for the next part. Part 2 is 3 minutes 55 seconds and is just heavy throughout, with some melodic and powerful vocals.

Lastly, ‘The Game’ is another song with headbanging moments. It hits you with the loud and stomping drum beats, with Jess showing off how powerful her vocals can be throughout and a very impressive intense scream.

I will be having this album on repeat for the next few months; it’s a favourite for me for sure! I highly recommend checking it out when it’s released!
