Krvl’s De Koning van Stilte

Belgian black metal band KrvL (pronounced as Kravaal) has issued a new video for ‘De Koning Van Stilte’, following the release of the band’s second full-length album, Donkere Paden, via These Hands Melt on CD, vinyl and in digital formats.

“Following the release of our first single and video clip, ‘Zielenrust’, we felt the need to create another compelling visual experience to accompany our music,” said the band.

“In this new video, we have once again embarked on an artistic journey, crafting a visual masterpiece that perfectly complements the dark, immersive soundscapes of our music. The production of ‘De Koning Van Stilte’ was a meticulous process, involving detailed planning and creative experimentation. We took on multiple roles, from directing and filming to editing and post-production, ensuring that every frame resonated with the song’s profound themes.”

“The video was shot in an evocative location, chosen for its atmospheric qualities and ability to enhance the narrative. Natural landscapes, abandoned structures, and dimly lit interiors were used to create a sense of isolation and introspection. The use of colour grading and special effects was carefully calibrated to reflect the emotional depth of the music, blending seamlessly with the haunting melodies and intense rhythms.”

Stream the track via all digital platforms here, check out the video here at RAMzine, as you can the aforementioned first single ‘Zielenrust’.

Shazzula of Wolvennest guests on ‘Zielenrust’. The band commented on her contribution thus: “When we were listening to the demo of this song we felt like there was something missing. So we came up with the idea to add some female vocals on the intro. Shazzula was our first choice and luckily she liked our music and she said yes.”

With a foundation of traditional 90s and modern black metal, the anonymous band mixes post-metal, doom and sludge influences. Following on from their self-released 2022 debut Kravaal, the second album Donkere Paden will bring even more darkness and despair which will be divided into seven chapters.  The album will feature guest vocalists H. from the band Oerheks and Shazzulah from Wolvennest.

The band commented: “We’ve poured our souls into crafting an atmospheric black metal album that will transport you to realms of chilling beauty and crushing despair. Prepare yourselves, for KrvL‘s reign of darkness begins anew when autumn falls.”

Donkere Paden can be ordered via Bandcamp and the THM webshop here as a CD and here for vinyl. It is also available for full streaming here.
