The sparkling new EP by dark drone rockers Picture Ann sporting the evocative title Museum is a musical exploration of the lives of peasants and fishermen between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries in Northern Jutland.
In the words of J.N., “The two lengthy sequences that make up this release essentially revolve around such themes as toil, hardship, and perseverance. They came about after reading an article that reflected on the struggle for survival in Northern Jutland several decades ago. The men would head out to sea and be away for months and even years at a time while the women would tend to the farm, the family, and cultivate the land. There was a haunting and stark quality to what I read that I tried to channel into the tracks. They are arguably a little brighter in tone in places compared to what we usually churn out. Headphones are recommended as is patience on the part of the listener.”
