Still Remains are back. After more than a decade away, the Grand Rapids metalcore band return with a new EP, Spirit Breaker, out 12 June via Arson Theory. It is their first new music since the fan-funded album Ceasing to Breathe arrived in 2013.
For a generation of fans, Still Remains are tied to the early 2000s metalcore boom. Their 2005 Roadrunner Records debut Of Love and Lunacy helped shape the era, driven by singles ‘The Worst Is Yet To Come’ and ‘White Walls’, and even nudged the UK charts with ‘Stay Captive’. Back then they shared stages with Trivium, Bullet For My Valentine, As I Lay Dying and August Burns Red, before second album The Serpent and a 2008 hiatus.
The five track Spirit Breaker was produced and co-written by Lee Albrecht (Hollow Front, Of Virtue), with cover art by Kevin Moore of Mind Reader Inc, fresh from a 2026 Juno win for Spiritbox‘s Tsunami Sea. The band describe it as their most personal and emotional record yet.
“For this record we tried to stay true to the sound that our fans have grown to love, but also evolve a bit and add some more modern influences,” says frontman T.J. Miller. “This is easily the most personal and emotional record we’ve done from a lyrical standpoint.”
Lead single ‘The Wound And The Weapon’, the band’s first new music in over twelve years, features a guest turn from Guy Kozowyk of The Red Chord. Second single ‘Erase You’ follows now, both videos directed by Dave Prindle.
