Twin Atlantic are back with a brand new single, ‘Don’t Quit It’, a bold burst of alt-pop that finds the Scottish band leaning into their signature widescreen hooks. The track marks the start of a new partnership with independent label Dance To The Radio, and it is out now.
Written by frontman Sam McTrusty, the song channels a spirit of perseverance, letting go and pushing forward, with a renewed focus on energy and feel. It is also a tribute to the Scotland national football team ahead of their trip to the USA for the World Cup. Driven by a Daft Punk-tinged edge, it captures the band in a freer, more instinctive creative space, embracing their mainstream appeal without losing the emotional core and anthemic weight that has long defined them.
McTrusty explains the heart of it: “It’s about not being able to quit something, or someone, that no matter how much it hurts or drags you down, or disappoints or frustrates you sometimes, you can’t help but love it and need it. It’s accepting that it’s a part of you and without it you’d be less and so it’s worth the perseverance. I wanted to shine a big spotlight on that experience and make a big bold fun rock song, hands in the air, let go of the pretense, take off your seat belt, and feel the fun.”
‘Don’t Quit It’ is the first track to feature all four original founding members, Sam McTrusty, Ross McNae, Barry McKenna and Craig Kneale, together in three albums, bringing a familiarity that has long shaped the band’s hard-hitting, anthemic sound.
Over the years Twin Atlantic have built a reputation for emotionally charged songwriting and arena-ready choruses, forged through DIY beginnings and relentless touring, with influences spanning the alt-rock intensity of Nirvana, the melodic sophistication of The Cure and the modern pop-rock dynamism of Muse. With more promised to come, ‘Don’t Quit It’ marks an exciting new chapter, a reminder of a band able to evolve while staying unmistakably themselves: loud, melodic and built to last.
They have a packed summer ahead, with headline shows in Scotland followed by a run of dates supporting McFly.
